De La Rue Lanka Currency and Security Print (Pvt) Ltd. has launched its new and expanded plant in Biyagama today.
De La Rue which is operative in Sri Lanka for several decades in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Treasury, prints currency notes and security documents The newly operated factory represents a 30 million dollar investment with a state-of-the art line of equipment to expand the Company’s manufacturing capability. The Company will locate its entire South and South East Asian operations in Sri Lanka. It has generated more than 150 new jobs in Sri Lanka. In the last five years the Company has doubled the number of employees in Sri Lanka to over 350 individuals.
The opening of the new extension took place under the patronage of Deputy Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama. Giving his views at the opening, the Deputy Minister said that the Sri Lanka economy is now open for new investment opportunities. Chief Executive of De La Rue James Hussey pointed out that with the opening of the new extension, Sri Lanka has displayed to the world that a suitable environment prevails for enterprises.
