Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena came under fire from the Opposition yesterday as the Ministry’s annual report was not provided to Parliamentarians in time for the debate on the welfare Ministries.
Sirisena admitted that the Ministry of Health was unable to submit the report, and said it would be presented in Parliament today.
“If the other Ministries can submit the reports, why can’t [the Ministry of Health?’ queried UNP MP Jayalath Jayawardena. The Government responded that an English copy of the report was available but the Sinhala and Tamil copies were not available as yet.
“This shows a lack of Government care and attention for this Ministry,” Jayawardena said.
