The government has stressed that there is no bus strike. There were reports that a strike would be stages from midnight today based on three demands. Transport Unions and the Government however stressed that such a strike has not been planned.
Deputy Minister Rohana Dissanayake said discussions had been held with the heads of the Private Bus Owners Associations. They have also refuted rumours related to a strike and said these were baseless.
President of the Lanka Private Bus Owners Association Gemunu Wijeratne said that their Association had not reached any such decision and the people will not be inconvenienced. They are able to solve their problems through discussions. He said that the bus service will be normal tomorrow.
