A heat have that gripped the Northeast U.S. at the beginning of the week has moved south.
Thursday was the hottest day of the summer in some parts of South Carolina. The high reached 104 degrees in downtown Columbia, 103 at the Columbia airport and 100 degrees at the Greenville-Spartanburg Airport.
The National Weather Service says other places that hit at least 100 on Thursday in the state include Greenwood, Beaufort and Orangeburg.
Forecasters say one bit of good news from the heat is the humidity has been low and there haven't been any heat advisories issued.
The weather service says temperatures should cool off a few degrees for Friday and a few more degrees over the weekend.
