Wimal Weerawansa says struggle shall end with either victory or death

Jathika Nidahas Peramuna Leader Wimal Weerawansa has resigned from his Ministerial Portfolio. The resignation letter has been directed to the President.

Mr. Weerawansa who held the Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Public Amenities Portfolio is staging a fast unto death campaign against the Panel appointed by UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon on Sri Lanka. Mr. Weerawansa said that that he has identified that certain groups were making efforts to put the President and the Government into difficulty by interpreting the struggle he has launched while holding a Ministerial Portfolio in the Government. In a missive to the President he has urged him to accept his resignation with immediate effect saying that he was doing so due to the struggle he has mooted on behalf of the motherland.

Wimal Weerawansa launched his fast unto death yesterday.

Mr. Weerawansa said this struggle shall end with either victory or either death and there is no other resolve to the matter. He was carrying out this fight for the soldiers of the country and to protect the freedom that the soldiers who won the country. He added that people should not forget that the expert’s panel appointed by Ban Ki Moon is a trick to drag the President and soldiers to an international court-martial. Such attempts, he emphasized, should be defeated.

Meanwhile, a special media conference on the death fast was organized at the venue. It was joined by M. Muzammil and Jayantha Samaraweera of the Jathika Nidahas Peramuna.
