Organisations protest Ban Ki Moons actions

Several organizations have are protesting against the attempts made by UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon to unduly intervene in Sri Lanka’s internal affairs.

The National Sangha Council in a release said that this is an attempt to reverse the victory achieved with much difficulty ending the suffering of the people that spanned three decades. It said that the Maha Sangha as well as the citizens of this country should be united in defeating international terrorism.

The Sri Lanka Islamic Association called on the Secretary General not to interfere in the internal matters of the country. It requested the people to be united putting aside all differences to safeguard the President who ushered in peace creating a conducive environment for everyone to lead peaceful lives.

The Independent Young Professionals Association claimed that Mr. Ban Ki Moon had no moral right to intervene in the affairs of a sovereign country. It noted that the country is facing a situation which is more dangerous than eliminating terrorism.
