The Sri Lanka Navy has succeeded in rescuing a Chinese Naval rating who was in a critical condition in the Indian ocean.
Naval Media Spokesman Capt. Athula Senarath said that the Sri Lanka Navy was able to save the life of this Chinese Naval Officer who was in a critical condition while sailing in a merchant vessel from India to Brazil on the international shipping route East of Sri Lanka. Responding to a request made by the Chinese Embassy in Colombo, two high speed naval trawlers left from Trincomalee and brought the Chinese Naval rating from the vessel which was in the deep sea about 80 kilometers away from the island. They arrived at the Trincomalee Harbour at 1.00 a.m. today. After providing medication at the Trincomale Naval Hospital, he was transferred to the Trincomale Base Hospital for further treatment.
