A large number of Ranaviru houses have been vested in the war heroes by the President.
The Housing scheme was launched under the ‘Api Venuven Api’ programme to express gratitude to the brave soldiers who released the country from terrorism. Twenty five houses built in the Kandy district under this programme were handed over to the war heroes by President Rajapaksa. A house that has been built at Senerathgama on behalf of Samith karunawansa who laid down his life in the Pudumathalan final battle was handed over to his family . The President handed over the house keys to his wife and daughter. Each house built by volunteers from the security forces under the “Api Venuven Api” fund is worth 1.4 million rupees. The Seva Vanitha unit of the Defence Ministry has also contributed towards the constructions. All houses are furnished. Gifts were presented to the children in the families. The President exchanged pleasantries with the family members who were present and took measures to solve their problems. A number of Ministers and Parliamentarians including Minister Keheliya Rambukwella and Defence Secretary Gothabaya Rajapaksa were present.
