Government will amend laws related to education

Jul 12, 2010 7:15:17 AM - itnnews.lk

Minister Bandula Gunawardena has said that it is unfair to treat the students who have failed Mathematics in the GCE (O) Level exam as having failed the exam.

The Minister said that the Government will amend the laws to permit the students who have credit passes for subjects other than Maths, to continue aesthetic studies although they have failed Maths. This is a country where existing opportunities are also being blocked instead of opening up new opportunities.

He said that the educational policy of the Mahinda Rajapaksa Government is to remove obstacles from the path of hundreds of thousands of people in remote villages who do not have a voice, to provide opportunities for the development of talents in their children.

The Minister was speaking at the presentation of prizes and certificates to students who have showed talent in Art. The function was held at the John de Siva Memorial Theatre.
