Analysis of water samples in the Hollywood Hills subdivision indicate the water system has become contaminated and the City of Columbia Water Works advises all water customers in the subdivision comprising Green Tree Drive, Green Tree Circle, Old Oak Drive and The 400 Block of Woodcrest Drive, to vigorously boil their water for at least one full minute prior to drinking or cooking.
Also, any residents near the affected area who have lost water and/or water pressure are also advised to vigorously boil their water for at least one full minute prior to drinking or cooking.
The water works department is working to correct the problem.
The city advises that food processors and restaurants should comply with USDA and SC DHEC recommendations. For questions about the advisory, call the Lexington/Richland County Environmental Health Office at 576-2910 or the South Carolina Hospitality Association at 765-9000.
