Democrat Vincent Sheheen will start the final sprint for governor ahead of Republican nominee Nikki Haley in the money race.
But Haley, who trailed the three Republicans she beat in the primary, pulled in more than $350,000 after snaring 49 percent of the vote in the June 8 primary. Her fundraising over the three and a half weeks between the June 8 vote and June 30 accounted for nearly 70 percent of her fundraising during the three-month quarter.
Haley, a Lexington state representative, has $182,745 on hand, according to quarterly campaign filings submitted to the S.C. Ethics Commission over the weekend. Sheheen, a Kershaw state senator, has $262,473 in his campaign coffers, according to his campaign filing.
Haley, who was endorsed May 13 by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, enjoyed a bump in out-of-state donations. Between June 8 and June 30, Haley raised more than $100,000 from out-of-state sources, accounting for 29 percent of her haul.
