The Jathika Nidahas Peramuna (JNP) claims that Minister Wimal Weerawansa’s death fast had helped them to win 80 percent of their objectives. This was revealed at a media briefing organized by the party today.
National organizer of the Jathika Nidahas Peramuna Jayantha Samaraweera said that three-fourths of their aims had been fulfilled. The UN Secretary General will now have to halt it at the UN Advisory Panel. The Panel was not their end objective. They were thereafter planning an inquiry committee, a committee report and then a war tribunal which would result in penalizing the soldiers. This was their main objective. However, now they can’t reach it. This was not effective in Iraq. As a result the country had to compensate with hundreds of thousands of lives. However, he pointed out that Sri Lanka succeeded in averting it in the initial stages. The fast carried out by Minister Wimal Weerawansa enabled to halt this.
