The Catholic Church at Paranatakal in Omanthai, devastated by the terrorists is being developed.
It is being developed under the programme of rebuilding multi-religious places of worship devastated by terrorism. The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the building of the church. The presentation of agricultural implements, plants and spectacles to the people of the area also took place. Another highlight was the distribution of school books and sports gear among the children.
The Prime Minister said they were quite aware of the difficulties the civilians in these areas experienced for 30 years. The Government has created a peaceful environment for them to live without fear and suspicion. Action is being taken to build the required infrastructure. It is to look into these issues that they are visiting the area.
Grama Niladhari of Paranatakal S.P. Umapathy said resettlement in the area is now in progress. 190 families have already resettled in the village. He was confident that the village will develop under the President’s leadership.
