Vaas and Bandara excel, Jayasuriya fails

Jul 12, 2010 8:00:00 PM - aussieindolanka.com
Chaminda Vaas continued with his magnificent season with bat and ball for Northamptonshire as his side tied with Nottinghamshire Friends Provident T20 tournament at Wantage Road. Vaas bowled brilliantly as he claimed 1 for 17 in his four overs as Notts made 144 for 7 in their 20 overs. The Sri Lankan veteran who has been promoted to open the batting for his side this season then blasted six fours and a six in making a 30-ball 47, his side’s highest score as Northants made 144 for 8 in their 20 overs. Meanwhile, Sri Lankan Malinga Bandara’s right arm leg spin proved unplayable at Canterbury as he claimed 3 for 15 in a deadly four over spell to restrict Glamorgan to 126 for 6 in their 20 overs. Bandara’s side Kent notched up the required runs in 19.1 for the loss of just four wickets, with Bandara not required to bat. The other Sri Lankan in action on Sunday, Sanath Jayasuriya however failed to impress, but his side Worcestershire beat Leicestershire by six wickets at Worcester. Jayasuriya failed to take wickets and was hit for 35 runs in his four overs as Leicestershire made 171 for 4 in their 20 overs.   www.dailymirror.lk/index.php/sports/cricket/5022-vaas-and-bandara-excel-jayasuriya-fails.html
