A group of Sri Lankans staged a protest outside the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva yesterday calling on UN Secretary General Ban ki-moon to dissolve the three member advisory panel he appointed on Sri Lanka.
Our Representative Jagath Wickremarachchi giving details of the protest said that among the handful of Sri Lankans who staged the demonstration outside the Geneva UN office were some Sri Lankan journalists living in exile. Even foreigners supported the protest. Our representative said that a memorandum with 2000 signatures was handed over to a representative of the UN Headquarters in Geneva. Similar protests against the UN Chief are planned to be held in New York, Britain, Germany, Italy and several other countries.
