The first Cabinet meeting in Sri Lanka’s former LTTE de facto capital of Kilinochchi has ended. It was chaired by President Rajapaksa. The meeting was held in Iranamadu, Kilinochchi. The first decision taken was to reduce fuel prices in Jaffna by three rupees.
Our Special Representative reporting from the area said that the Prime Minister, all Ministers and Chief Ministers are attending this historic Cabinet meeting. Several critical decisions of the Government were taken at this meeting. Minister Keheliya Rambukwella will reveal details of the Cabinet Meeting shortly.
The President is due to preside at a special meeting for Government as well as security officers in short while from now. It is being organized to discuss the development which is now in progress in the North under the Mahinda Chinthana and also the mega development projects planned for the future. All public officials and security officers who are serving in the North have arrived in Kilinochchi to attend this meeting. The President is also due to address a public meeting at the Kilinochchi Esplanade for the civilians of the area.
