President calls for a report on the dengue victim

Jul 14, 2010 8:43:17 AM - itnnews.lk

The President issues instructions to the relevant authorities to provide him with an immediate report on the death of a Doctor in the Badulla hospital due to Dengue.

The father of Dr. Nadeeka Lakmali Wijenayake had telephoned the President and told him that his daughter did not receive proper treatment from the staff of the Badulla General hospital. It was this particular doctor who had been in charge of the ward where children suffering from this disease were being treated. She too had obtained treatment from this hospital.

The President said an immediate inquiry should be held to determine whether proper attention was not focused on her by the hospital staff. The Presidential Task force has already launched an immediate programme to bring the disease under control. The President referred to the need for everyone to be alert on the elimination of the Dengue menace. The President instructed the Health Additional Secretary to take immediate action to release the BTI bacteria to the environment for the control of Dengue.
