Chief Justice receives letter on appointment of judges to hear Sarath Fonseka’s case

The letter forwarded by the Attorney General seeking the appointment of a three member panel of judges to hear the case involving the statement made by Sarath Fonseka regarding white flags, has been forwarded to the Chief Justice.

The Attorney General has made this intimation to the Colombo High Court. The Attorney General has decided to hear the case sans a Jury under the powers vested in him by the Penal Code. The Attorney General’s Department has said that this decision has been informed to the Chief Justice in writing. The hearing of the case against the suspect will begin after the appointment of the panel of judges.
