President Rajapaksa has issued instructions to provide water from the Iranamadu Tank to solve the drinking water problem in the North.
The President gave the instructions during a progress review meeting of the “Uthuru Wasanthaya” programme. The President observed the distribution of water from the Iranamadu Tank. He advised irrigation officials to release water from the Iranamadu Tank for the other tanks in the North.
The first sample of milk produced by the National Livestock Board was presented to the President by Minister Arumugam Thondaman in Kilinochchi yesterday. The milk produced at the Dayagama dairy farm in Bopath-thalawa will be released to the market under the brand name ‘Delight’.
Meanwhile Secretary to the Northern Province in the Presidential Task Force S.T. Divaratne said that the North is being speedily de-mined. 893 million rupees have been allocated for this purpose. He said that so far 3,800 land mines have been removed.
