Sri Lankan Airlines will be resuming its services in the Kochi- Colombo sector from the next winter schedule of the Cochin International Airport Limited.
Senior airport officials consultations had already been held with the airline for sometime now and as of now, the plan is to operate three flights per week between Kochi and Colombo and providing onward connections accordingly. Airport Director A.C.K.Nair said that the airport had been receiving a large number of enquiries from the passengers as the demand for tourist connections and business connections between the two destinations were on the higher side. He emphasized that Sri Lanka was fast becoming a popular international tourist destination and the service is also expected to cater to the combined tourist packages connecting it with the various destinations of Malaysia or Singapore.
The airline had operated five services per week in the Colombo-Kochi route with a flight on every weekday but suspended its Kochi service in January last year owing to a re-fleeting process.
