The Doctors at the Ampara General Hospital have successfully operated on a man whose leg was pierced by a crowbar.
The person known as Somaratna had been working in a kiln when he suddenly fell into a nearby pit. An iron crowbar in the pit had pierced his right thigh. He was rushed to the Ampara General Hospital without removing the crowbar where the doctors decided to perform surgery to remove the crowbar. His life has been saved by Surgeons Nishantha Halpagama and Vajira Rajapaksa, Anesthetist Chandana Fernando and the other staff members of the hospital who participated in the operation.
