The TNA parliamentary delegation that recently visited India had raised the issue of the continuation of HSZs in the North even a year after the war.
TNA parliamentarian Suresh Premachandran told The Sunday Leader that the TNA members expressed concern over the continuation of HSZs in the North and the people who have been displaced as a result.
During the Indian visit the TNA members met with several high-ranking Indian government officials including the Indian prime Minister.
He said that even a year after the war, the government has not taken any steps to remove the HSZs in order to resettle civilians who formerly occupied those lands.
“It is a matter of concern. The government has said it would remove the HSZs, but nothing has been done so far,” Premachandran said.
