Safeguard ethos in the face of world opinion – President

President Rajapaksa has emphasized that children should be enticed to safeguard the ethos in the face of world opinion and attitudes. Joining in the175th Anniversary celebrations of Royal College Colombo, the President opined that while using modern technology including computers children should be taught of our heritage and bravado

The President opined that their intention was not to mould a robot generation due to the use of computers. Their desire is to safeguard but not lose the ideals, becoming a slave of the computer. In the process of making Sri Lanka “Asia’s miracle”, it should be made the knowledge hub. He told the gathering when imparting knowledge to the entire world Sri Lanka should not be considered as a small country. He stressed that the world should be won by utilizing to the optimum the knowledge and courage.

The celebration marking Royal College’s 175th Anniversary was held under the auspices of the President this morning. An environment which will groom the children to face the world through their practical capabilities should be created. The President underlined that the children should be educated of braveness in accepting the challenges confronting the developing world. Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe, Minister Bandula Gunawardena and many scholars graced the occasion. The President was presented with a commemorative stamp issued to mark the School’s 175th Anniversary.
