Entry to Colombo through Pamankada is now being controlled by a one-way system. There are two roads from Pamankada into Colombo, Old Havelock Road and Stafford Avenue. From today, Old Havelock Road will be one-way in and Stafford Avenue will be one-way out. This arrangement attempts to control the congestion at this main entry point into Colombo.
The full regulations according to the government news portal are:
Vehicular Traffics coming from Kohuwala through Pamankada would not be allowed to enter the High Level Road through Stafford Avenue from today but could use the Havelock Road to High Level Road, release stated.
Traffic will not be allowed to enter the Old Havelock Road from W. A. de Silva Mawatha and all traffic moving towards Kohuwala should turn to the right at the Maya Avenue roundabout to High Level Road, through Pamankada Junction, the release states. Such traffic could proceed up to W. A. de Silva Mawatha Junction.
