A programme will be launched today for insuring 75 thousand soldiers of the Sri Lanka Army.
The Defence Ministry has said that the National Insurance Trust Fund has offered to insure the soldiers. This is the first occasion the National Insurance Trust Fund has come forward to insure army soldiers.
The Official Government website said the respective Memorandum of Understanding will be signed today. Major General A.C. Abeysekera on behalf of the Sri Lanka Army and Chairman of the National Insurance Trust Fund Senaka Abeygunasekere on behalf of the fund will sign the MOU.
This will provide a maximum insurance cover of 600,000 rupees for hospitalization. It will grant a compensation of one million rupees incase of sudden death.
