Crews are expected to resume the search this morning for two boys who are presumed to have drowned Sunday afternoon on Lake Norman during a family boating trip.
Authorities said Monday morning they expect the search to resume about 9 a.m.
The boys, reportedly ages 17 and 11, were swimming off a boat stopped on the lake with at least two other people at around 3:30 p.m., fire officials said.
"There were some people out having a good time," Cornelius Fire Chief Jim Barbee said. "The water got a little choppy. Two got out, and two didn't."
Crews searched Sunday afternoon and evening until a thunderstorm forced them off the lake.
