Sri Lanka has launched a strong programme for poverty alleviation. This has been emphasized by Prime Minister D. M. Jayaratne before World leaders in China.
The Prime Minister was addressing a meeting on the alleviation of poverty in the Asia-Pacific region. It was held in the Kum-Min City in China. State leaders and representatives of all countries in the region attended this meeting. Speaking further, the Prime Minister pointed out that an accelerated development process is in place in the North as well as in the South with the end of the war. The Prime Minister called on all state leaders to help Sri Lanka to achieve success in her efforts. The Presidential Media Unit said there was a high positive response from the State leaders to the Prime Minister’s call.
