The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) is to reach out to the grass root level to discuss about the government’s proposed constitutional amendments and electoral reforms.
The decision was arrived at the party’s Working Committee meeting convened under party leader Rauf Hakeem on Sunday (18).
SLMC Secretary Hassen Ali told The Sunday Leader that members of the Working Committee have been asked to return to their constituencies in order to gather the views of the people on the constitutional amendments and electoral reforms.
He said that the SLMC members have been given a period of two months for the task as the party has decided to reconvene another Working Committee meeting in two months to discuss the progress achieved.
Meanwhile, SLMC MPs have also been assigned to districts to coordinate the work.
