Minister Maithripala Sirisena has said that hospital committees will be reorganized from next year, setting up a charity committee in every hospital.
The Minister said Hospital Committees are rendering a significant service. But he observed that there is a need to reorganize them. He said that the contribution and the cooperation of the private sector are required in addition to the investments made by the Government as well as the contributions made by national and international organizations. The Minister made this reference when a kidney dialysis machine was donated to the Colombo South Teaching hospital by a British company with the intervention of the Jinasena Limited. The Minister said that the assistance from the private sector is required for the development of hospitals. The Minister pointed out that a number of programmes have been launched in this connection.
