The case pertaining to the killing of two youths while in the custody of the Angulana Police was for the first time taken up before a Trial-at-Bar at the Colombo High Court today.
Four suspects including the former OIC of the Angulana Police Station were produced in Courts. The Trial-at-Bar includes Justices W.P.M.V.B. Warawewa and Kumudini Wickramasinghe and is chaired by High Court Judge Deepali Wijesundera. The Trial-at-Bar was appointed after the Attorney General requested the Chief Justice to consider it as a crucial one. Setting the 17th of next month as the next date for the hearing, the Trial-at-Bar ruled to hold the suspects in remand custody until then. The Court also called for a report of the previous offences and finger prints of the suspects. The murder of two youths while in Police custody, took place on the 13th of August last year.
