The police force today held a recruitment drive at Police Park to fill vacancies in the State Intelligence Services, according to police spokesman Prishantha Jayakody.
Jayakody explained that several sub inspectors had recently been promoted, resulting in a shortage and necessitating the drive.
Jayakody added that today’s event was merely a first interview. “We first have to process all the applications, before calling them back for a second verbal interview.” Jayakody said. As a result, the spokesman added that there was no fixed timeline as to when the applicants would eventually be called back. Jayakody was unaware how many applicants received a nod for the second interview.
Scores of young applicants queued to give in their personal information in the hopes of being eventually recruited into the police force today. The State Intelligence Service falls immediately under the purview of the Ministry of Defence, and is tasked with both internal and external intelligence activities.
