Third South Asian Conference on Sanitation will be held in Sri Lanka next year.
It is being organized by the Ministry of Water supply and Drainage. The 2008 SACOSAN conference was held in India. Research has shown that the population in the South Asian countries has inadequate access to sanitation.
The aim of the conference is to discuss the measures taken by the member countries in order to improve sanitation facilities in the region.
The Ministry of water supply and drainage expects to raise awareness about the conference in Pradeshiya Sabhas, Urban Councils, Health Department, Community Organisations, media personnel and the general public.
Five workshops will be conducted in this connection in Colombo, Galle, Anuradhapura, Jaffna and Batticaloa.
