Former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka is to face a trial at bar on charges related to the white flag incident. It will be gear next Thursday.
The charges against him include stirring up and inducing the public through the statement he had made about the white flag incident; Provoking nationalistic sentiments; and attempting to spread discord amongst citizens.
The Chief Justice appointed the High Court trial at bar to take up the case filed against Sarath Fonseka. It is chaired by Judge Deepali Wijesundera.
The other members are P.B.M. Warawewa and Zulfikar Rasheen. The charge sheet adds that 22 witnesses will be called in connection with the charges filed by the Attorney General.
