UN’s Resident Representative for Sri Lanka Neil Buhne has left the country a few days after returning to the country after meeting UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in New York.
UN sources told The Sunday Leader that Buhne would be away for a period of three weeks on annual leave and would return to the country after the period.
Media related issues of the UN Colombo Office are to be handled by the UN New York office.
Buhne was summoned for consultations with Ki-moon in New York when NFF Leader and Minister Wimal Weerawansa launched a protest campaign and a fast unto death outside the UN Office in Colombo against the UN panel of experts on Sri Lanka.
Following his return from New York, Buhne met with External Affairs Minister G.L. Peiris on Tuesday (20) evening.
