The popular splash pad at Drew Park is closed so health officials can test the waters for an intestinal parasite.
City officials decided to close the park after being notified of a possible link between the splash pad and one confirmed case of cryptosporidium, a naturally occurring parasite spread through feces that can cause diarrhea, abdominal cramps, headaches, nausea, vomiting and a low-grade fever.
Symptoms can last up to two weeks but those infected aren’t normally hospitalized.
City pools remain open to the public.
