The Buddhist Cultural Centre in Nedimala has a significant gift for the Buddhist world commemorating the 2600th Sambuddha Jayanthi. It is the Sri Sambuddha Jayanthi Mandiraya which is coming up at the Thunmulla Junction in Colombo.
It is being built as the World’s largest Buddhist publication and information centre for the entire world population conducting studies and research on Buddhism. The foundation stone for this project was laid with the patronage of President Rajapaksa in February this year. It will be equipped with an auditorium, a centre for studying various languages. Buddhist programmes will be launched on behalf of students while there will be studio and computer facilities. It will also have research and Dhamma service facilities.
The total expenditure to be incurred on the project which will assure the protection of Theravadi Buddhism for the future world, will be 300 Million rupees.
