The Sri Lanka Transport Board is geared to face any bus strike by private bus associations. The Board’s Chairman M.D. Bandusena said they have already finalized arrangements in this respect.
Mr. Bandusena said they had a fleet of buses comprising between 300 and 500. All these buses in addition to the 1300 buses which are operating at present will be put into service so that no commuter will be hindered if there was a private bus strike.
In addition, he said they were mulling over to get down some buses from other depots in the provinces if necessary to strengthen operations in the Western Province.
He emphasized that a request has been made from their drivers and conductors to report for duty and help serve the commuters during these few days if a strike prevailed.
