Jul 26, 2010 12:03:41 PM - itnnews.lk

The Constitution will be changed according to the needs of the people and not Non Governmental Organisations. This has been stressed by President Rajapaksa.

The President opined that the best place he likes is Parliament. That was why they were changing the Constitution. It was not done to meet the aspirations of anyone. It should be kept in mind that the Constitution will be changed according to the needs of the people. He emphasized that it was not done to the whims and fancies of those who lay conditions but for those who closely associate with the people. The Constitution cannot be changed as and when required by individuals. It is being done to meet the needs of the people and the future generation, placing first the country’s development and security and safeguarding its identity. The President pointed out that it was in this respect that he had vested those concerned to discharge this task.

The President participated in the opening of the Hakmana Pradeshiya Sabha building. The expenditure incurred on the building was 35.3 million rupees. The Pradeshiya Sabha Office is equipped with all modern facilities. The two storied building had been constructed within a very short period. It will help to provide immediate services to the people of the area. The President also participated in the opening of several development projects in the Hakmana area.
