The Transport Minister, who traveled in the “Sagarika” train to inquire into complaints made by commuters, has succeeded in uncovering the truth.
Commuters had continuously lodged complaints with Minister Kumara Welgama referring to the hardships they had to experience due to the delay in arrival at their work places. The commuters had complained that almost every train running on the coastal track was not arriving in time. The Minister boarded the train from Matara today to determine the truth. He was able to practically find out the truth of the allegations. The “Sagarika” train came to a halt in-between due to a damage caused to the rail track. The Minister also found out that certain Railway officers were not reporting in time for duty.
The Minister emphasized that he was not prepared to pardon the inefficiency of the Railway Officers. He called on them to seek immediate transfers if they are not able to discharge their duties properly.
