Columbia mayor to join law firm

Columbia mayor Steve Benjamin will join Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart on Aug. 1, the labor and employment law firm announced today.
Benjamin was a partner at the Benjamin Law Firm, where practiced governmental strategic planning, administrative and regulatory work, municipal finance and general business matters.
Before that, he worked at McAngus Goudelock & Courie.
Having Mayor Benjamin join us is a major boon to the firm and businesses in the state, Ted Speth II, managing shareholder of Ogletree Deakins Columbia office, said in a statement. His qualifications and reputation are simply outstanding. Steves business acumen and experience in public office and in the private sector make him a very unique and sought after talent.
Ogletree Deakins said it has 500 lawyers in 40 offices nationwide.
