A South Carolina judge is considering if he will issue a gag order in the trial of a white man charged with killing his black friend, then dragging the man's body behind a truck.
Multiple media outlets report Circuit Judge John Few is holding a hearing in Newberry on Friday about whether to prevent officials involved in Gregory Collins' murder trial from speaking publicly about the case.
Collins was arrested last month and charged with killing 30-year-old Anthony Hill. Authorities say Collins shot Hill, then dragged his body 11 miles behind a truck.
The New Black Panther Party has held protests and rallies in Newberry. They want federal authorities to charge Collins with a hate crime.
