U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson will host cookouts in his district that he hopes will spark conversations about reducing government spending.
Wilson, a Lexington Republican who has held the 2nd District seat since 2000, is facing Beaufort businessman Rob Miller, a Democrat Wilson defeated two years ago.
The cookouts are an extension of Wilsons Cut the Fat tour across the district, according to a campaign news release. Wilson will serve as head chef, his campaign says, for a dozen cookouts planned for mid-August. Dates and locations will be announced.
Wilson and Miller are locked in the most expensive U.S. House race in S.C. history.
