Newly declared World Heritage sites are a boon to tourism

Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi has said that declaration of Sri Pada and three other famous locations as World Heritage sites is a victory for the tourism sector in the country.

The World Heritage Conference being held in Brazil has declared the Sri Pada, Horton Plains and the Knuckles Range as World Heritage sites. The Sri Pada also known as Adam’s Peak is being worshipped by followers of all religions. Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi said that such a location achieving the status of a World heritage site is a victory achieved by several Ministries led by the Cultural Ministry.
