The Government will provide employment opportunities at Hambantota harbour for at least one person of each family who has been resettled due to the harbour construction project, Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa said.
The speaker said so while participating in an inspection tour at Hambantota harbour yesterday.
Around 450 families have been resettled with better facilities in the same area due to the ongoing harbour construction project.
The speaker invited all interested people throughout the country to participate in the inaugural ceremony of Hambantota Harbour construction project on August 15.
After completing the first phase of the construction project, the harbour will be filled with water ceremonially on August 15 by President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
"Everyone is invited to be at the opening ceremony as this might be a lifetime opportunity.
Those interested people must be present at the harbour premises at 8 a.m. They will be allowed to enter the harbour basin and see the beauty of the sea water being filled," the Speaker added.
