The "Idam Meheyuma" to collect island-wide information of the lands belonging to the National Housing Development Authority through the Lands Task Force is being carried out in Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Kandy and Ratnapura, districts, NHDA General Manager Sagara Palansuriya told the Daily News.
The public are kindly requested to provide details about the lands encroached by the people or private companies to the NHDA on hot line 0112389504 or 077-3985176.
Palansuriya said the NHDA had already received information about small land plots encroached by the people for their shelter specially in city limits.
The prime objective of the drive is to identify NHDA own land plots scattered throughout the country which are from one perch to many acres in extent and utilize them systematically for housing development, he said.
The given deadline for collecting information is August 31.
The NHDA has also planned to initiate 19 housing projects to build 2000 houses in Gampaha, Kandy, Kalutara, Colombo, Jaffna, Batticaloa, and Matara districts next year. Funds for construction will be met by pre- sales ground, through direct treasury and Private-Public Partnership, Palansuriya said.
