The Magistrate’s Court has ruled that former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka and his Private Secretary Senaka Silva could not be permitted to meet to discuss matters.
The case related to the recruitment of Army deserters by former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka and his Secretary Senaka Silva came up for hearing before Colombo Magistrate Rashmi Singappuli today.
The Defence Attorneys requested the Magistrate to allow Sarath Fonseka and Senaka Silva to meet in the Court premises or at the Naval Headquarters to discuss about certain issues regarding the case. State
Counsel Damith Thotawatta raising objections said that the law does not provide for such a meeting. Accordingly the Magistrate rejected the request and ordered the suspects be remanded till the 16th of this month.
