Private Sector employees will receive several benefits in the near future. Secretary to the Labour Ministry Mahinda Madihahewa said already salary increases from 20% up to 40% had already been granted.
He pointed out that salary increases had been granted by Wage Control Boards in the Private Sector. It has been done by seven such Boards in the production, service and the plantation sectors.
Only three Wage Control Boards are yet to follow suit. The Labour Secretary opined that the increases are granted through gazette notifications.
According to a decision made by the Minister all Wage Control Boards will grant the increases up to a maximum of 40 percent. He said this would result in high increments, bonuses as well as ETF and EPF payments to the employees
