The US will assist the Sri Lankan government in creating 10,000 more jobs in the North.
The US embassy said that the US Agency for International Development will bear the initial costs. The Agency has expressed willingness to setup new factories in the North teaming up with local companies.
In the construction field, an alliance between USAID and a Sri Lankan construction consortium will establish seven mobile training centers for construction craftsmen in the Northern Province.
Training will be provided to 5,000 persons over a period of six months including three months of on-the-job training. 3000 will be recruited for computer training.
The US Embassy in the press release said that more than 1.1 billion rupees has been allocated for the purpose by the US Agency for International Development.
