A man who a sheriff's deputy was able to arrest only after hitting him in the head with a rock was sentenced Tuesday to 20 years in jail on crack charges.
Cornelius Simmons, 28, of Hollywood, S.C., was so determined to avoid arrest when pulled over by Charleston County Sheriff's Sgt. Ransom Williams for erratic driving that, according to Williams, he:
struck Williams in the head,
recovered from a knock-down taser strike (that dislodged crack from his pockets) to flee,
struggled with Williams and kicked and grabbed Williams in the groin three times,
