The Suriyawewa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota is ready to stage the next World Cup matches.
200 Million rupees is being spent in this mega sports complex which will add colour to the Hambantota district. The Chinese Government has provided the financial contribution for the construction of this stadium. It will be able to accommodate 35 thousand spectators. A seven and five storied building complexes are under construction. These will be equipped with all modern facilities. In addition to a modern pavilion, there are also media booths and a restaurant. 10 pitches have been built in conformity to international standards. All constructions of the stadium have been completed. Several World Cup matches are scheduled to be staged at this venue.
